Activity Overview

This educational activity is targeted to nephrologists, cardiologists, primary care physicians, and the interprofessional care team of nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and physician assistants who help manage patients with cardiorenal anemia syndrome (CRAS). Designed as a dynamic and engaging, microburst, whiteboard-animated webinar series hosted on EpocratesCME, which can be viewed sequentially and/or as standalone units for learner convenience, this educational initiative will offer attendees an in-depth characterization of the complex, multifaceted, interrelationship of heart failure (HF), chronic kidney disease (CKD), and anemia, highlighting the impact of concomitant anemia on HF and CKD progression and responsiveness to treatment, and including an incisive focus on the contribution of iron deficiency (ID).
In the second webinar, expert faculty will lead attendees on an exploration of current clinical trial data and expert consensus guidelines endorsing the emerging utility of intravenous iron as a safe, effective treatment option across the CRAS disease continuum. To conclude the series, learners will review currently-available IV iron products, discuss practical pearls and identify key differentiators between them, and will be afforded the opportunity to apply learned principles to real-world CRAS clinical scenarios. Notably, each webinar will be bolstered by an innovative whiteboard animation that emphasizes and illustrates key teaching points for optimal learner engagement, knowledge retention, and sustained practice improvement.
